As communication consultants, we often find ourselves in the very privileged position of communicating complex messages to wide and varied audiences on behalf of our clients. It’s something we never take for granted and feel a great responsibility in helping to communicate important missives – especially when the information has potential ramifications for the intended audience. This is no more true than in the latest issue of Leader magazine which we produce for the Association of School and College Leaders. In an article entitled Changing Outlook ASCL’s Parliamentary Specialist, Anna Cole examines how reforms coming in for September represent a shift in political thinking about special educational needs (SEN). While many of the changes highlighted in the article are welcome, there could be unforeseen, negative consequences for young people, schools and colleges.
